KOTA KINABALU: For the first time in Sabah, the police will be organising a Fun Run to foster closer relations among its personnel and the public, as well as to bring crime prevention awareness to the community.

Sabah police commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah (pic) said the KK Cops Night Run is expected to be held at 7pm on Jan 4, 2020.

“There has never been a run organised by the Sabah police contingent before this. So next year, we hope to get this programme running while educating the public on crime prevention,” he said during the fun run registration here on Sunday (Nov 10).

He said it was important to bring the community and police contingent closer using various creative ways.

Omar said there will be lucky draw prizes worth more than RM35,000, including a motorcycle and flight tickets, up for grabs at the event, thanks to various donors.

“Those who register will have to pay a RM59 fee that entitles them to a T-shirt, certificate of participation and handcuff-like medals,” he said.

Anyone interested or wishing to learn more about the event can go to the Karamunsing police station to get details or register online at before Dec 4.

Omar said there are already more than 2,000 people registered for the run as of Nov 10.
