Garbage worker injured by driver in hit-and-run incident

GEORGE TOWN: A garbage company worker was injured after a car driven by a woman crashed into the back of a garbage truck and rammed into him on Jalan Anson early Friday (Nov 15).

According to George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang, in the 6.40am incident the victim, who has not been identified, suffered serious injuries to his legs.

“He was rushed to Penang Hospital (HPP) for treatment,” he said.

“The victim is under the red zone area in HPP,” he added.

The victim was in the midst of collecting rubbish on Jalan Anson when he was hit by the car.

The driver, said to be a woman, fled the scene and efforts to trace her are ongoing.
