Storage facility gutted, five workers rescued in Permatang Pauh fire

BUTTERWORTH: Fire gutted a wood storage facility on Jalan Bukit Merah, Permatang Pauh on Thursday (Nov 14) night.

Penanti fire station chief Mohamad Zaidi Rosalain said the fire, which broke out at about 10.15pm, destroyed about 90% of the facility.

“Five workers who were stationed at the facility were rescued during the incident,” he said.

Mohamad Zaidi said one fire engine, a water tanker and eight personnel from Penanti and Bandar Perda fire stations were despatched the location and managed to control the fire within one hour.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still being determined.
