One killed, four seriously injured in accident on Tuaran bypass

KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed and four others seriously injured in an accident along the Tuaran bypass road near here at about 5am on Saturday (Nov 16).

The deceased has been identified as Amirul Izzat Rahmat, 21, while the four injured are Zulhafiz Pasaran, 19, Hafiz Saruji, 23, Mohd Zulhilmi Abdullah, 19, and Faizam Fasal, 19.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Khatizah Rahaban said Amirul, who is believed to have been seated on the front passenger’s side, was thrown out of the car when it crashed.

“One of the victims was taken out of the vehicle by firemen, while three others were helped out by passersby while they waited for medical assistance to arrive, ” she said.

She added that the driver had lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a road divider during the accident.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said they were investigating the case under the Road Transport Act.
