KUALA LUMPUR: The call for PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali to officiate at the PKR Youth National Convention on Dec 6 is not the official stand of the youth wing, says its chief Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.
He said the statement by his deputy Muhammad Hilman Idham was misleading and did not reflect the youth wing’s stance as the meeting mentioned by the latter was not attended by the top exco members.
“If you want to do a meeting, prior notice of two weeks must be issued by the secretary.
“The quorum must also be complete. To make it sound as if it was an official youth wing meeting is false,” he told reporters at Parliament lobby.
The PKR Youth deputy chief and Gombak Setia state assemblyman had openly defied his chief and said that the PKR Youth National Convention on Dec 6 in Melaka would be officiated by Azmin, in the name of “upholding tradition”.
Muhammad Hilman also claimed that he had the support of the majority of all elected PKR Youth leaders nationwide, adding that he would move all youth delegates from branches and divisions nationwide to attend the PKR Youth National Convention together with the PKR Women’s National Convention.
Akmal Nasrullah stressed that Deputy Prime Minister and PKR advisory council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was the one who would be officiating at the national youth convention.
“There are no changes. This was raised during the central political bureau meeting on Wednesday (Nov 20) and they took it as a call made at the youth wing level,” said Akmal Nasrullah.
He also urged his deputy to attend the final youth meeting before the convention to thrash out all the grouses he would like to raise.
“The central committee’s decision is final, and if there is any unhappiness, he can come to our final meeting on Sunday (Nov 24),” he added.
