IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu says the transfer of the state secretary should be referred to the Public Service Department.
“It will be appropriate for the department’s chief secretary or the director-general to answer on why he was transferred,” he told reporters after Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah launched a skills programme at the Ipoh Industrial Training Institute here.
It was reported on Sunday (Dec 1) that a letter, purportedly directing the immediate transfer of Perak state secretary Datuk Zainal Azman Abu Seman, had gone viral on social media.
The letter, dated Nov 28, stated that Zainal would be placed under a special position at the department in Putrajaya effective December.
On Monday (Dec 2), Zainal Azman, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed his transfer, without stating the details.
When asked further on why the state secretary was transferred in such a sudden rush, Faizal said, “I don’t know, I am the Mentri Besar, and I look after the state, and not the department (Public Service),” he added.
Zainal Azman had held the post of Perak state secretary since Oct 18 last year, when he replaced Datuk Mohd Ghazali Jalal, who retired.
