ISKANDAR PUTERI: A contractor was robbed of more than RM40,000 at knifepoint in broad daylight after he withdrew the money from a bank here.
The suspects on a motorcycle also snatched the man’s gold chain before making their escape.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the incident happened at around 3.30pm on Thursday (Dec 5) outside a bank along Jalan Nusaria 11/1 in Taman Nusantara.
“The 32-year-old victim, a contractor, had taken out the money intended as payment for his workers.
“He was heading for his car when he was approached by two men on a motorcycle.
“One of them stopped him from entering his car while the other pointed a knife at him.”
ACP Dzulkhairi said the suspects then forced the victim to hand over his bag containing about RM40,000 in cash that he had withdrawn from the bank.
The duo then took the victim’s bag which also contained his wallet that had his IC, driver’s licence, two credit cards and two bank cards in it.
“Before the culprits fled the scene, they also snatched the victim’s gold chain,” ACP Dzulkhairi said.
He added that there were no witnesses and that the CCTV footage at the scene was being inspected.
The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang and armed robbery.
